unbeleafable...

Autumn has always been my favourite season of the year. Crisp mornings and steamy breaths, a warm glow of sunshine as it arcs it's way just above the horizon for shorter and shorter periods as winter approaches... Living in the northern hemisphere brings with it the best attribute of autumn though, with the annual turning of the leaves. The change of colours; greens, yellows. reds and browns. The blanket of fun created as trees scatter their metaphoric hair across the land.
Inspired somewhat by the Ty Evans film earlier this year "Unbeleafable" (watch it below), and the sheer fun I'd been having on the regular, sliding though piles of leaves on my skateboard, I set out to try and capture some autumn awesomeness this past weekend with some good friends in Londons Hyde Park...

jovial genetics...

My lady Lucy and I made the journey down to Brighton a couple of weekends back to meet up with her parents, George and Chris as part of the "Higgins Birthday Month Extravaganza"... Twas a super fun weekend with some strolling and shopping in the lanes, cookies and other culinary treats, and an awesome night of stand up comedy at Komedia (followed by an odd trip home following a Halloween Hare Krishna parade)... Thanks Ma and Pa Hig!
Lucy is definitely her mother's daughter, though at times they seem closer to best friends... From outward appearances, synchronised silliness, to their love of literature; their similarities run to the core... It's sweet to see and just one of the reasons why she's so special to me...

puerto rican pride...

As this years IBA bodyboarding world tour heads into its final stages, riders are currently shaping up to do battle near Isabela, at the Encanto Pro, on the island of Puerto Rico. With the world title still up for grabs it's a critical event and with swell on the horizon, is shaping up to be an exciting one...
At the forefront of this inaugural contest is professional bodyboarder and local ambassador Natasha Sagardia. You would be hard pressed to find someone more passionate about their homeland and about bodyboarding... Here's hoping for amazing waves and a super successful event!
Check out Nati's welcome introduction to the island below and keep an eye on the IBA website from the 2nd till the 13th of November for regular updates...

c'est magnifique...

Looks like Pierre Louis Costes has been working on his air forwards! The young Frenchman has just dropped his latest podcast (watch it below) full of fresh shredding from trips to Chile and Mexico earlier this year... Can't wait to see what he's got in store for the Canary Islands in December... Below is an outtake from some portraits I shot of PLC for Riptide Bodyboard Mag last year...

berlin by night...

Sifting through the archives is always fun, especially for bringing back fond memories. I'm trying to get some images together to update my website and came across these pics from this time last year in Berlin... I'd finished up work around 1am and decided to roam the streets on my bike till the early hours setting up some long exposures... Fun times and a different perspective of one of my favourite cities...

whomp...

Ben Selway is a funny fellow... As such, the first printed incarnation of his magazine, WHOMP, is an amusing 136 page affair. It's jam packed full of interesting interviews and peculiar portfolios of talented people from all across the globe... You can get your copy here, and read more of Mr Selways silliness here...
Pretty packaging...

murrens days out...

My good friend Murren has many things going for him. He's a multi-talented man of many skills where cameras are involved, he's pretty damn good on a rolling plank and... he kind of looks like Steve Stiffler... Always quality to be around, we enjoyed a few days of cruising in Cornwall over the late summer... Good times...

glolf in the dark...

Twas a saggy Sunday in Berlin following the madness of a double barreled birthday weekend and our crew was in need of activity, though preferably nothing alcoholic or party related... So to the glow in the dark mini golf course below the old Gorlitzer bahnhof!
There was some big talk of big skills (mostly from one Josiphylus Harisch) but by the halfway mark, it was the dark horses making moves for the victory. Twas an epic eve, and everyone walked away winners after a late night visit to the infamous Gorlitzer Huhnerhaus... Good people and good times... You can read more about Schwarzlicht golf here in a wonderful article penned by the eloquent Lucy Higgins...

the bethanian project...

While strolling around Kreuzberg on a recent Berlin trip, alongside hosts with the most Francis and Helga, we happened upon an exhibition at the Bethanian Kunstlerhaus which included a DIY bowl built by Dave the Chimp and friends... Fun, though not easy to skate, and aesthetically awesome, it's an amazing example of the skate community bringing creativity to the city... Check it out and have a shred while you can as it's due to go by the end of October!

mkwf...

While visiting Bristol over the summer, I spent some time hanging out with an artist friend, MKWF, and photographed some of his studio based work... He's got an infectious energy for life and all things artistic, and it was cool to see his space, setup and some of his more recent work... Keep it up yo!
You can check out some more of his work HERE...

peckham party...

Had a pretty damn sweet evening out recently at a pop up bar (currently all the rage) on a multi storey carpark in Peckham... Franks Cafe and Campari bar was it's name... Fans of the Negroni would have loved this place... Here's lookin' at you Naw... As a farewell to summer, we enjoyed copious amounts of the dry liquor and made are our own fun after the place closed (see below)... Awesomeness...
