a countryside test roll...

Twas a birthday of a friend in Brighton, Mr Julian Owen and he and his lovely miss Louise had arranged a countryside amble around nearby Firle, with an all important visit to the magical Middle Farm in search of the perfect cider.
The morning started amusingly as we were forced to wait patiently for our first pub stop to open in order to whet our whistles! With our parched lips liquored up and the sun on our backs, we began a strollin', across fields and down lanes before reaching cider town.
Middle Farm is a 625 acre working family farm offering incredible local and British produce and is home to The National Collection of Cider and Perry, where one can sample more than 100 different draught ciders and perrys, as well as meads and liqueurs. Our party made the most of both the food and drink, picking up a pint or two of their favourite tipple before moving onward and upward towards Firle beacon before training back to Falmer for more fun and moonshine care of the birthday boy...
I suppose it's an old cliche that good friends and good people get along, but having not met most of our party previously, it was ace to meet, chat and laugh with such an awesome and eclectic mix of people. Thanks for the good times, i'm looking forward to the next one already!
Below is a twelve shot diary of our day, care of my new Kiev 60... Light metered by eye so a little over, a little under, but so stoked with the results... Hope yall enjoy!

a new tool...

I finally received my latest camera purchase in the mail last week, from far across the continent in the Ukraine. For a while now, I've been looking into medium format setups which fit the bill for me in both features and price, which eventually brought me to this joy of Ukranian engineering, the Kiev 60.
Safe, sound and shiny in my hands, I was eager to run a test roll through it and was presented with the perfect opportunity over Easter. And so we play the waiting game for the return of the giant slides!

RT 187 and mr michael novy...

Riptide mag 187 hit the shelves last week with another Canarian cover, this time care of a fine invert from Mitch Rawlins shot by one of my fellow waterman for the 2011 season, Mr Jesus De Leon. Big congratulations mate!
I had a full page pic run introducing this years wetsuit guide, a sillhouetted water shot of a textbook Michael Novy air reverse. The first time I ever heard of Novy was in 2007 when I shared a surf with him and some Sunshine Coast lads at South Wall, Ballina. His technique was so damn tight and still is to this day. Powerful and a pleasure to watch.

ocean current ad...

Was stoked to help put together an ad for Jeff Hubb's clothing sponsor, Ocean Current, for the latest Riptide, Issue 187. Hubby had a bangin year, was ripping in the Canaries and was really unlucky to be pipped at the post for the world title by PLC in the final event at Fronton.
No dwelling on past defeats for this Hawaiian though as he took out the first IBA event of 2012 at Pipe in February! Cheers to Hubby for the good Canarian times, OC for the ad and Ruben Grimon for the mountain adventure which brought about the portrait!

lewisham living...

Trying to juggle a bunch of things settling in to a new life at the moment... Job hunting, photo editing, area exploring as well as fulfilling the many domestic duties of a man about the house... In between the madness, I've managed to find time to get myself a new ride, picked an all time album on vinyl in nearby Greenwich and host our first of many garden parties to come... Roll on summer in lovely Lewisham...

feelin irie...

So twas well over a year now that I helped out on my first modelling gig for Berlin based brand Irie Daily... As I've posted before, they went on to use my pic as an ad in a number of magazines and I found out a little while back that I was also on the cover of their 2011 Fall/Winter catalogue... Stoked!
I was even more stoked last week when a large, unexpected package arrived for me from them, with copies of the catalogue as well as a bunch of new threads... And rad threads they are...
Check out their latest collection at www.iriedaily.de
Massive thanks to Denise for her thoughtfulness and generosity and to Sven for geeing it up!
