One of the many things that separated the WSC 2012 from other contests was the quarter pipe built under the instruction of Terje Haakonsen at the bottom of the famous Holmenkollen ski jump...

The stadium atmosphere on the night of the quarter pipe finals was out of this world, but equally moody was the foggy practice session I witnessed the day before... It's a pretty special place and it was amazing to watch Terje and the rest of the guys testing the water and pushing the limits without the cheering masses... Snowboarding for real...

While covering WSC 2012, I had the opportunity to meet, and shoot with, one of Australia's biggest snowboarding talents, Mr Nate Johnstone. Riding all the way from the early qualifying rounds, Nate ended up in 5th place, a respectable effort considering the quality of the field. He definitely impressed a lot of people, going huge throughout the event and saved his best till last, putting down a double cork 10 on the last hit of his final run... Though I haven't seen either, both Australian Snowboarding and Mens Fitness ran one of my shots of Nate following the his performance... Here's some of my favourites from the 10 days of riding...

world snowboarding championships for reason...

In February earlier this year, the first ever World Snowboarding Championships were held in Oslo, Norway and I was lucky enough to have the opportunity to check out the event, while shooting some photos and scribing some words for Reason, a British snowboarding magazine...

The feature appeared in their first magazine of the season, issue 4.1, and had a good mix of photos from the event, focused mostly on the British team and the winners of the various divisions...

With the worlds best riders cruising in Oslo for almost two weeks, there was such an incredible amount of epic riding going on. So over the next few posts, I'm going to post some of my favourites from the trip... I hope y'all enjoy!

Every true snowboarder NEEDS to own a copy of this book... From the layout and photo selection to its thought provoking content and production values, it bleeds the essence of the sport while opening a discourse for the direction of its future... Impressive and inspiring on so many levels... Hats off to you David Benedek...

Anyone who knows me is well aware that I love a good bit of dnb... One of my most recent, and favourite, purchases of recent time has been the first full length album from two of Brighton's finest, Spectrasoul entitled "Delay No More"... Stripped back and moody covering a range of bpms, it's been on high rotation for me since it's release earlier this year... Below is one of my favourite tunes from the album... Though not really up my alley musically, I had the opportunity not long ago to work my second gig as a full grip alongside Charlie Herranz (DOP) and Emile Rafael (Director) in creating a music video for the Pirupa tune "Party Non Stop"...

It was a long, challenging day for everyone involved but  I think the end result is pretty awesome; sensual and creepy at the same time... Thanks to Charlie for having me on the team, to Drew for keeping me laughing through the day and everyone involved for putting in the hard yards...
