merry mardi gras

Happy Mardi Gras to all my LGBT friends out there!
Y'all sure do know how to throw a party!
Here's a few pics from CSD (the Berlin equivalent) a few years back...
Hoping today is just as rad! Some wild times!

white lines...

It's that time of year when the northern winter wonderland starts to weigh on one's mind... This one's from a little while back but for some reason it never made the blog... One of my first forays into using gels ended up working out pretty sweetly at a well known Hochfilzen rail in Austria... British ripper Niell Campbell nailed a bunch of tricks this evening, with the below front lip making the cut... Stoked!

yellowbird memories... RT 192...

Soooo it's once again getting to that time of the year... The islands in the Atlantic start lighting up with swells and the bodyboarders of the world venture en masse to soak up the simple, slab filled lifestyle that this Spanish territory offers... Alas, 2013 will be the first time in five years that  I won't be part of the festivities... My only consolation at the moment lies with 2012 being the best year I'd had for waves by a long shot... Riptide featured a bunch of my words and images in their 192nd issue a while back covering what was surely one of the greatest bodyboarding contests of all time...
Jase Finlay uses his motorboat limbs to scoop into one of the bombs of the contest...
If BP continues his Fronton form this year, he'll be tough to beat for the 2013 title... 10/10 picture perfect air forward...
Hubb was flying high all contest long, but came unstuck at the hands of a hard charging Boetie, with a little help from mother nature...
It was tough to see Wing lose the world title in the semis... Probably the only time a 19.25 out of 20 just isn't going to be enough...
After snatching the title from Hubb last year, PLC technically handed it back to him knocking Wing out in the semis... And came back to take the contest win in an absolutely epic final with an on fire Jared Houston...
Three main players (Jeff, Wing and PLC) and a lot of big blue barrels...

Change could definitely be on the way if BP takes another world title this year... Movement RIP...

Below, two of my favourite candid moments from the trip... Good times!

powers of three...

Ah the Emerald Isle... It's been on my mind a bunch recently... Photos of epic summer sessions popping up here and there... Irish friends buying houses, having babies... And if the grapevine is anything to go by, there are absolute hordes of bodyboarders heading to its shores this northern autumn...
Anyway, over the last couple of weeks I've been trying to re-organise my blog and realised I've never posted about Powers of Three, a surf film I worked on with Mickey Smith, Tom Lowe, Fergal Smith and Richard Stewart... You can check out the full film online here, or embedded below...
I've also attached a few of my favourite photos from my time in Eire... Hope you enjoy!

rt 195 jacob romero...

The latest Riptide hit shelves not too long ago and I was stoked to see a sequence of braddah Jacob Romero make the grade in an interview with him entitled "The Fighter". Super fit, dedicated and one of the nicest guys you'll ever meet, it's rad to see things are starting to swing JRom's way...
Below is the full page sequence from the mag, plus a few others from the Canarian season that was... Big love brother!

ireland for threesixty mag...

I was super stoked when British mag ThreeSixty decided to run a full feature from my 2012 Irish travels... As well as running images of Wingy and Jack, our host with the most Stef Skajarowski, his brother Danny Boy and Dublin legend Tom Gillespie all had pics featured and it was a really rad, all round article. Good friends, good vibes and green barrels!
Jig in a big green barrel...
Wing bottom turning round a beast...
Family Skajarowski dominating both right, left and beard in the Emerald Isle...
Tommy G scooping into a bomb while Wing reverses in giant fashion at Posties...
