cool hand luke and the eel...

Leave it to a local to stroke into the bomb of the day! Solid scoop skills!
Served with a thrashing this time around, but earned a stormwater eel for his troubles... Which he was happy enough to share with Michael Novy... ; )

Eels!

pyne-o! clean!

Shaun Pyne had a good honest crack at the top spot at this years pumping Shark Island Challenge. He was on fire through both rounds and the final, but lost out by the narrowest of margins in the end to Mitch Rawlins... Here's his wave o the day from the wash through filled day before the comp... Big ups!

cape solander...

A trip out to Cape Solander during the 2016 Shark Island Challenge waiting period brought back a flood of fond memories recently. Chasing and shooting waves out near Kurnell at Fear and De Niros back in the day... It's a crazy place to watch the ocean when there's a solid swell running... Big ups for a rad day in and out the ocean Jase!

pre wedding bliss in byron and ballina...

Amazing accommodation, sunshine, surf and some of the finest people on the planet steadily trickling into Byron meant the weekend was shaping up to be ALL TIME!
A few of us managed to sneak away for some more Ballina wedges early before an afternoon of organisation and an evening of fun at The Treehouse...

 Accommodation view one....
 Accommodation view two...
Ballina barrels...
 Peaks for all...
The fellas take it all in...
Happy campers!
And the amazing arrivals continue!

yamba to ballina trippin...

Our third day of road trippin will I'm sure be burned in our collective memories for many years to come…
The view from our reasonably priced room suggested there was still lingering swell and the call was made to check out the nearby point break of Angourie… We arrived to find inconsistent peeling rights under picturesque blue skies, but few of us expected the treats awaiting us around the corner…
For the next few hours we were treated to some of the funnest 2 foot peaks you could ever find… Thankfully, a couple of the photos actually do the session justice…
Moving north towards Byron, we stopped in at South Wall Ballina and, though the wind had turned, there were still loads of fun wedges to be shared…
Following a golden ferry ride back to the highway, we paid a visit to Ballina's giant prawn before moving on to Byron to get settled in our various accommodations…
It was wild to think what an epic few days it had been…
Even crazier to think back now, that the good times were just beginning…
Roll over and check the swell...
Angourie in all its glory...
 Buck in headlights...
 Buck bouffon...
 Definitely a couple out there...
 Jig locks in...
 Still checkin?! But why?!
Pick a craft, any craft... This shot sums up this session for me...
 Wedgey! Including the horizon...
 South wall slabs...
"Shoulda seen my one down the beach..."
 Golden times...
 Prawn vibes...
North wall also had a couple...
In the afternoon light...
