Fair to say it's been far too long between blog posts...

In the months between, I've managed to rehabilitate a torn medial collateral ligament in my right knee, sustain an enjoyable and always enlightening career as a photo assistant and digital operator with some of Australia's best photographers, plan the party of a lifetime where I married the girl of my dreams in the company of some of my finest family and friends, and... play a lot of football!

I've got loads to catch up on and, given a couple of quiet days, should soon have a regular feed of images and occasional words for your consumption... 

I'll also be trying to integrate this blog and my Instagram a little more (also @lessthanasecond) so have a look there if it's your preferred method of scrolling...

joining the OM1 club...

While gripping on a feature film over the summer, I had the chance to work alongside a couple of amazing photographers, Nicola Dove and Agatha Nitecka. I was especially inspired by Agatha who rolled onto set halfway through with a Nikon FM2 on one shoulder and an FM3 on the other! 

It inspired me to try to get back to shooting film more regularly and so I thought the purchase of a small, manual, 35mm slr was in order... 

Enter the Olympus OM1 into my life! She's a beauty... One roll down, many, many to go...

kernow at krimbo... part two...

One of my most memorable Christmas' of all time was the year my brother asked for a Commodore 64 computer... Our excitement before the big day was such that we scoured the house searching and eventually found the box in hiding... So much for the allusion of Snata Claus... Needless to say Ma and Pa were not too pleased to find us in the living room at 5am in the morning having opened, setup and started to play on our new toy! Classic memories...
As the years pass, I find myself far more excited about giving gifts than receiving them, especially when kids are involved... This Higgins Family Christmas was definitely a fun filled one on the gift front, bringing out childhood excitement in everyone! x

Taking it back a few months... Last Christmas was my fourth on the trot spent in south west Cornwall, and my third in a row with the decidedly delightful Higgins family... Add to the festive celebrations a Tom Bawcocks anniversary, a junior Pyrah birthday, a Boxing Day Johns extravaganza, a scattering of winter waves and a decadent New Years eve in Porthgwarra and you realise why it's called the silly season... Here's instalment one...

Christmas day arrived in a rather grey and wet fashion. Damp spirits, however, were nowhere to be seen at the annual Sennen Cove Christmas Swim... Lucy was the only one of us brave enough to tackle the wintery waves, but was joined by hundreds of others kicking this festivus off to a fresh start!

 It's CHRISTMAAAAAAS!

Our friend Emily visited a couple of weeks ago and brought us round some cake, as well as some mix to create our own... Though in the end we didn't continue the chain of Hermans, i did end up making three different cakes... One for our house, one for Lucy's workmates, and one for the birthday of Vinnie Pyrah, head of comedy...

My girl Lucy absolutely loves netball, and has found herself an ace group of girls to play with in our local area, the Blackheath Wanderers... I went along a couple of weeks back to check out their skills, support the team and take a few pics with the ol' Xpan, on what was an unseasonally warm March day... Lovely lovely Lewisham...

My lady Lucy and I made the journey down to Brighton a couple of weekends back to meet up with her parents, George and Chris as part of the "Higgins Birthday Month Extravaganza"... Twas a super fun weekend with some strolling and shopping in the lanes, cookies and other culinary treats, and an awesome night of stand up comedy at Komedia (followed by an odd trip home following a Halloween Hare Krishna parade)... Thanks Ma and Pa Hig! 

Lucy is definitely her mother's daughter, though at times they seem closer to best friends... From outward appearances, synchronised silliness, to their love of literature; their similarities run to the core... It's sweet to see and just one of the reasons why she's so special to me...
